Yi Meiling — Chairman of Huaxi Water Conservation

Born in 1996, Yi Meiling began her journey in a small village in Cangnan, Zhejiang, and gradually stepped onto a broader stage. In 2017, shortly after entering the workforce, she chose to start her own business, beginning in the luggage and apparel industry. With sharp market intuition and solid execution, she stabilized her customer base in under a year, gaining invaluable early-stage experience.

A trip to the rural areas of Leizhou became a turning point in her career. There, she saw traditional agriculture's reliance on unpredictable weather—inefficient irrigation, significant water waste, and hardworking farmers still facing uncertain harvests. Deeply moved and guided by her own understanding of market needs, she recognized that water-saving irrigation technology held the key to change. In 2019, she founded Guangdong Huaxi Water Conservation Technology Co., Ltd., committed to empowering agriculture through innovation.

The startup journey was challenging. Funding gaps, technical hurdles, and low market acceptance tested her resolve. Yet she remained hands-on, leading her team into the fields, working alongside farmers to evaluate irrigation results, and listening carefully to their feedback on durability and ease of use. To tackle issues like clog-resistant drip tapes, she tracked global advancements and adapted technologies for practical use.

In business strategy, she held to the principle of “prioritizing long-term partnership over short-term gain.” Early on, when farmers approached her directly to buy products, she turned down the immediate revenue, insisting on working exclusively through distributors. She understood that local distributors knew their markets and customers best, and bypassing them would disrupt ecosystem trust. Instead, she offered exclusive regional agreements, tiered incentive policies, and dedicated support—from product training to marketing—to help partners grow. This approach initially meant fewer orders, but it built lasting loyalty. The distributor network expanded from 50 to over 500, forming a robust nationwide channel.

When competitors engaged in price wars, she refused to compromise on quality, believing that reliability would win in the long run. Some customers who initially chose cheaper alternatives later returned, strengthening ties based on trust and performance.

After consolidating her position domestically, Yi set her sights on global markets. Step by step, she expanded into Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, steadily building international channels and brand recognition. Today, her company’s water-saving irrigation products are sold in more than 80 countries and regions, earning consistent praise from overseas clients for their quality and practicality—showcasing Chinese agricultural technology on the world stage.

Under her leadership, the company established systematic operations and integrated upstream and downstream partnerships. Revenue grew year after year, doubling consistently from under one million yuan at the outset to exceeding sixty million annually, bringing efficient irrigation to countless farms.

Now serving as a Leizhou Municipal People’s Congress representative, Yi still often walks the fields, listening to farmers and channeling their voices into her public role. From entrepreneur to agricultural technology pioneer, she has worked to reshape traditional farming—using technology as her brush and her original vision as the ink, painting a quiet yet vibrant story of “technology empowering the land, innovation serving the people” across the landscape of rural revitalization.
